If built, a 1,000-space underground parking lot would require 6 to 7 years of construction in the middle of the city. The excavation of the site alone will bring 13,000 truck passages, or one every 3 minutes! The French-speaking part of Switzerland is already at a loss as to where to store excavated material. The tons of concrete and steel added to the ball of machinery will produce a phenomenal amount of CO2.
The noise and vibration nuisance caused by the work will seriously threaten business in the city center for a considerable time, resulting in additional business closures.
